Governor Martin O’Malley has signed a bill which increases the state’s minimum wage over the next 4 years. The bill was signed Monday morning. This increase will take place in these increments. In January, the minimum wage will rise from $7.25 to $8.00. By 2015, it will increase to $8.25 in July and $8.75 in July 2016. Next it will go up to $9.25 in July 2017 and $10.10 in July 2018.

O’Malley says, “It’s not fair that some people play by the rules, work 16 hours a day and still faced with raising their children in poverty.”
