Many sources have reported that Boko Haram has struck again. This time 60 girls and women along with 31 boys were abducted in Damboa district of Borno state in northeast Nigeria. According to the Nigerian national broadcasters NTA, a source said that 30 people were brutally massacred during the attacks in the Kammabza village and other areas. However, the Nigerian government has yet to confirm if these attacks are indeed by Boko Haram as suspected.
In recent months, Boko Haram has been responsible for kidnapping more than 200 girls from their school in Nigeria. This act launched the campaign; “Bring Back Our Girls.” Even though the tread for the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls has slowed down, the search for the missing girls is still going on in Nigeria. However, the Nigerian government claims they know where the missing girls are but fear if they attempt to rescue, this would result in the deaths of many of the hostages. Boko Haram has demanded the release of prisoners in exchange for the missing girls.
