Do You Know What Is In Your Cosmetics?

I found this interesting to come up after I was making myself clear about wearing make up. For me and my culture it’s certain things I do not use, put on my skin or even eat. So I have a habit of reading ingredients and looking up those words that appears to be scientific and foreign. Now I came across a study by Consumer Reports Shop Smart and after a year-long investigation many big brands of cosmetics have harmful chemicals in them. Brands such as Aveeno, Neutrogena, and Clairol came up on the list of brands not living up to their motto.

Many of these ingredients can cause cancer and reproductive health problems. Two ingredients to avoid is Quaternium 15 and DMDM Hydantoin which is a potential carcinogen. What is a carcinogen you ma ask? Well a carcinogen is any substance, radionuclide, or radiation that is an agent directly involved in causing cancer. Another chemical to avoid is Triclosan which can be found in toothpaste. I am big on the type of toothpaste that I use too because of the type of glycerin the company may use in the product I have found that if you really love a certain brand and want to know about the ingredients you can call the company and they will answer your questions.

Now I am not the type of person to wear make up everyday but I will wear it as well as use products for bathing. Plus my line of make up I use is 100% vegan. For me the more a product is in it’s natural state there is a better chance of not having harmful chemicals enter your body. So do me a favor a make sure you check those labels before you purchase and use those cosmetics.
