Entertainment Tonight went on the set of the Whitney Houston biopic to get a sneak peek of the behind-the-scenes action. ET spoke with Angela Bassett, the film’s director and this is what she had to say about Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina’s reaction to not being able to play her mother in the biopic.
“I can understand it,” said Bassett, sympathizing with Bobbi Kristina. “She adores her mother, and in this process I lost my mother (Bassett lost her mother in June) as well, so I get it and I love Bobbi Kristina.
Lead Yaya Dacosta says she’s tuned out all the criticism. “I kinda shut off all social media because I didn’t wanna be distracted,” she said.
Vocals are being provided by R&B singer Deborah Cox. The movie premieres next year on Lifetime.
