Man Pleads Guilty In USPS Scheme



Richard Lewis Wright III a former Waverly station manager for USPS pleaded guilty to bribery. He was involved in a contract scheme. According to the plea agreement, he along with Kimberly A. Parnell were authorized to contract landscapers, snow removers and cleaning services for the post office. They would create, approve, and submit false invoices were the total was inflated for maintenance work. They would take a cut of the profits. The total amount submitted in invoices collectively was over $640,000; Wright submitted $591,791 and Parnell submitted $50,470.

Wright is facing a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison. He will be required to pay back the full amount. Kimberly Parnell was sentenced to 20 months in prison and Anderson 15 months. Shane Anderson, a contractor was previously charge with the same scheme. Anderson would receive a cut from the total that was on the invoices. Wright is set to be sentenced on February 6, 2015.
