Statement Released On Dallas Ebola Patient Who Died



According to health officials, Thomas Eric Duncan died Wednesday morning at 7:51 am. Duncan left his home country of Liberia on September 19, 2014 and arrived in the United States on September 20th.

The following statement was released by the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas:

Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola. He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”

When Duncan left his home country of Liberia, he did not have any symptoms of the virus. He went to the hospital after 10 p.m. on Thursday, September 25 but there were not flu or other virus symptoms. He was given antibiotics and released. He returned on September 28 by ambulance and it was confirmed by the CDC that he was infected with the Ebola virus.
