Tuesday June 2, 2015, the enactment of The Hunger Free Schools Act of 2015 is scheduled to be announced. The new Maryland law will allow the entire school that your child attends to qualify for free breakfast and lunch. Before this law, only certain individual students qualify for free lunch. Del. Keith Haynes, who is a Baltimore Democrat sponsored the bill this year. “The new programs will bring federal dollars into the school systems that opt to use it,” says Haynes. A call was sent home to parents stating the program would begin on Monday June 1, 2015 and will run all the way through the next school year.
